On 21 June, the Aurora Gold Mine was honored with the "Employer of the Year" award at the "ECONOMEs 2026" awards ceremony, hosted by ECONOME, a prominent Guyanese business media organisation. Keoma D. Griffith, Minister of Labour of Guyana, presented the award to the winning enterprises.
A total of six companies were shortlisted for this year's "Employer of the Year" award. In the end, Aurora and N&S Algoo （a Guyanese logistics and customs brokerage firm） were the two distinguished recipients of this accolade.
The ECONOME "Employer of the Year" award is one of the most influential annual selection events in the region. The award aims to recognise outstanding enterprises that continuously foster an exceptional working environment, prioritise employee growth, and actively cultivate a positive corporate culture. The evaluation focuses heavily on performance in areas such as employee development, talent cultivation, employee benefits and welfare, corporate culture development, and employee satisfaction, combined with a comprehensive review of independent employee survey results.
In recent years, Aurora has consistently adhered to a localisation strategy and the philosophy of "strengthening the enterprise through talent," while continuously refining its talent cultivation systems and career development pathways. In 2025, the company completed a cumulative total of 10,601 hours of various training programs. Local employees now account for 89% of the total workforce, and 140 employees have received long-service recognition awards. Concurrently, a group of outstanding local employees has progressively advanced into key technical and managerial roles. Furthermore, the company continues to advance the development of its occupational health, safety management, and employee care systems, actively fostering a safe, inclusive and diverse working environment.
