Aurora Gold Mine

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Aurora Gold Mine is the only large-scale operational gold mining project in Guyana. In 2020, following our acquisition of a 100% interest in Guyana Goldfields Inc., the Group transformed Aurora from a loss-making operation under care and maintenance into a profitable, steadily growing mine that resumed production within the same year. The mine currently has a processing capacity of 10,000 tonnes per day, and Phase I of its underground mining project is progressing on schedule. This will support a smooth transition from open-pit to underground mining. Upon reaching full capacity, annual gold output is expected to increase to 6 tonnes.

2025 HIGHLIGHTS

In 2025, the Aurora Gold Mine produced approximately 4.5 tonnes of mined gold, representing an increase over the previous year. Benefiting from higher processing volumes, dilution of fixed costs through increased underground output, together with contract optimisation and gradual cost improvement measures, AISC for the year was approximately US$1,432/oz, lower than in the previous year. During the year, the 3.3-million-tonne-per-annum processing plant upgrade was completed, phase 1 of the underground mining project progressed steadily, and the transition from open-pit to underground mining remained generally smooth.

Sustainable Development

Aurora Gold Mine actively participates in local community development in Guyana, carrying out various activities in education, public health, environmental protection and social welfare. The company supports the University of Guyana Career Fair, providing local young people with opportunities for career development. It also participates in local environmental monitoring capacity building and supports social welfare initiatives such as women's empowerment and legal assistance, addressing the development needs of different groups. Through these initiatives, Aurora Gold Mine continues to support local community development.

While promoting community development, Aurora Gold Mine continues to optimize its energy structure and actively promotes the application of solar power generation and energy storage facilities in mining operations. Leveraging Guyana's abundant solar resources, the company continues to increase renewable energy utilization and reduce its reliance on diesel power generation. Currently, the mine has installed a solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation system with a total installed capacity of 49.4 megawatts (MW), together with approximately 82 megawatt-hours (MWh) of energy storage facilities. The system is expected to provide approximately 63 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, reduce diesel consumption by approximately 18 million liters and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 47,000 tonnes, helping to optimize the mine's energy supply structure, improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs.

Looking ahead, Aurora Gold Mine will continue to promote renewable energy utilization, environmental management and community development, strengthen communication with local communities and stakeholders, and continuously improve its mining operations while maintaining stable long-term operations and supporting the sustainable economic and social development of Guyana.
